Fluke Insulation Tester, 10 MΩ to 2 TΩ Insulation Testing Resistance, 10000V Maximum Test Voltage - FLUKE-1555 FC Kit w/IR3000

This insulation tester is a portable, battery-powered instrument for assessing resistance and insulation condition on high-voltage electrical assets. Designed for field use in industrial environments, it performs dc insulation testing across a wide voltage range and communicates results wirelessly via an infrared connector and app for remote monitoring and trending.

Features & Benefits

• 250V–10000V selectable test voltages for versatile diagnostics
• Measures up to 2TΩ to detect degradation in high-resistance systems
• 2000000nA test current capability for sensitive leakage detection
• Rechargeable lead‑acid battery enabling 750+ tests per charge
• CAT IV 1000V and CAT IV 600V safety ratings for site resilience
• Ramp and timer functions to reveal progressive breakdown behaviour

Applications

• Suitable for insulation testing on switchgear and distribution panels
• Ideal for condition assessment of motors and generators
• Used for cable insulation verification during commissioning
• Can be used for preventative maintenance in industrial plants
• Used with Fluke Connect workflows for remote result archiving

What power source does it use and how is it recharged?

It runs from a 12V rechargeable lead‑acid battery and is recharged via an 85V–250V ac charger.

How does the instrument help identify moisture or contamination?

The ramp test monitors resistance while voltage increases

a declining or sudden drop in resistance during the ramp indicates moisture- or contaminant-related insulation deterioration.

What measurements beyond insulation resistance are available?

It also measures capacitance from 0.01μF to 15.00μF and leakage current from 1nA to 2mA with specified accuracy.

How does it behave with capacitive loads during testing?

The device charges at approximately 5s per μF and discharges at about 1.5s per μF to safely manage capacitive effects.

Which safety and certification standards apply to this instrument?

It conforms to recognised safety and EMC standards and carries relevant approvals for industrial electrical test equipment.
