Fluke Insulation Tester, 1000V Maximum Test Voltage, 20mA Test Current - FLUKE-789/771 GEAR

This insulation tester is a combined digital multimeter and mA loop calibrator designed for industrial troubleshooting and calibration tasks. It measures voltages, currents, resistance and frequency while also sourcing and simulating mA loops and providing loop power where required, enabling field technicians in automation, electronics and electrical trades to perform single‑tool diagnostics and verification.

Features & Benefits

• 0.05% accuracy on 0–20.000mA supports precise loop calibration
• 24V loop power supply delivers greater than 24V into 250ohm for loop tests
• True‑rms voltage measurement to 1000V for accurate AC readings
• 20mA drive with 24mA over‑range handles high‑test‑current scenarios
• Simultaneous mA and per cent‑of‑scale readout simplifies interpretation
• Four AA alkaline cells provide up to 140h measurement runtime

Applications

• Suitable for commissioning current‑loop transmitters and valves
• Ideal for maintenance checks on industrial control panels
• Used for field calibration of sensors and 4–20mA loops
• Can be used for fault‑finding on motor control and PLC inputs

What environmental range can it operate within for on‑site use?

It functions between −20°C and 55°C and survives storage down to −40°C.

How much continuous current can it measure without overheating?

It measures up to 1.000A with 0.440A continuous capability for extended tasks.

What protections exist for high‑voltage industrial environments?

The instrument is safety rated to CAT III 1000V and CAT IV 600V and meets IEC 61010‑1 and IEC 61010‑2‑033 requirements.

How is battery replacement handled in the field?

The battery compartment is externally accessible for quick swap of the four AA cells.

What measurement modes assist in capturing transient behaviour?

Min/Max/Average/Hold and relative modes are provided along with fast and slow auto‑ramp for output profiling.
