ABB UA30 Series Contactor, 16A Operational Current, 380 to 400V Control Circuit Voltage Uc - 1SBL281022R8510

This contactor is a compact, three-pole control unit designed for capacitor switching in industrial electrical installations. It operates with an AC control circuit at 380 to 400V (50Hz) or 400 to 415V (60Hz) and is intended for DIN-rail mounting in panels where controlled switching of capacitor banks is required.

Features & Benefits

• 16A operational current for handling moderate load currents
• Accepts Peak inrush up to 100x nominal rms current for capacitors
• Withstands up to 45kvar at 690V for high-voltage capacitor banks
• Mechanical life rated to 10 million operations for long service
• Screw Terminal connections enabling secure field wiring
• IP20 Coil Terminal protection for Basic access safety

Applications

• Suitable for switching capacitor banks in power-factor correction schemes
• Ideal for panel-mounted reactive power control modules
• Used for modular industrial control cubicles on DIN rail
• Can be used as a replacement for Compact Block contactors in distribution panels

What are the expected switching speeds for control response?

Coil energisation closes main contacts within 8 to 21 MS and releases NO contacts within 4 to 11 MS, enabling timely switching of capacitor circuits.

What temperature range can it reliably operate in near the device?

It is suitable for operation in free Air from −40°C up to +55°C when supplied at 0.85 to 1.1Uc, with higher-temperature ratings available at nominal Uc.

What are the connection capacities for main and auxiliary conductors?

Main circuit cables accept flexible conductors with ferrules from 2.5 to 10mm² and rigid conductors 2.5 to 16mm² while auxiliary terminals take 0.75 to 4mm² depending on conductor type.

How does it behave under fault conditions regarding breaking capacity?

Maximum breaking capacity reaches 820A at 440V (cosφ = 0.45) and 340A at 690V (cosφ = 0.45), suitable for typical industrial short-circuit scenarios.
