SICK MLP1 Series Safety Switch, IP67, 24V DC Supply Voltage - MLP1-SMUF0AC

This safety switch is a power-to-lock interlock designed for safeguarding access points in industrial automation. It employs RFID sensing and uniquely coded actuation to monitor guard position and permit controlled locking. The unit features self-monitoring semiconductor outputs for safety signalling and is intended for process protection where a fail-safe OFF state is required on fault. The device is suitable for series connection and diagnostic configurations using standard M12 cabling.

Features and Benefits:

• SIL 3 safety integrity delivering very low dangerous-failure probability
• Category 4 safety rated enabling high-level risk reduction
• Power-to-lock mechanism providing 350mA locking current draw
• Self-monitoring OSSD outputs supplying ≤100mA output current
• IP67 aluminium housing giving dust-tight and waterproof protection

Applications

• Suitable for machine guard interlocking in manufacturing cells
• Ideal for cascading safety devices in series connections
• Used with safety evaluation units for access control systems
• Can be used for machine tending stations requiring coded access

What are the electrical supply requirements?

The sensor and magnet operate from 24V DC with specified operating ranges for individual and cascade connections.

How does the device behave if a fault occurs?

At least one safety-related semiconductor output is driven to the OFF state to ensure a safe condition.

What diagnostic and connection options exist?

It supports T-connector series wiring without diagnostics and Flexi Loop with diagnostics via an 8-pin M12 interface.

What environmental conditions can it withstand?

The unit operates between -20°C and +55°C and meets vibration and shock resistance standards.

Is the unit suitable for hazardous-area installations?

It is not certified for hazardous areas and should not be used where such certification is required.
