StarTech Fibre Optic Cable, 8 Cores, 5m Cable Length - MPO8LCPL5M

This Fibre optic cable provides a single high-density multimode link that breaks out to four LC duplex terminations for connecting 40GBase-SR4 QSFP+ transceivers to multiple 10G SFP+ ports. It is supplied in an aqua jacket and designed for installations requiring plenum-rated cabling within data centre and enterprise environments. The assembly is intended for short-reach, high-speed optical distribution where Compact routing and reduced rack congestion are needed.

Features and Benefits:

• 40Gbps capacity enabling aggregation of multiple 10Gbps links
• OM3 multimode supporting 850nm VCSEL transmission
• OFNP plenum jacket reducing hazardous smoke emissions
• Individually tested for insertion and return loss
• Push-pull MTP tabs simplifying single-handed connector removal

Applications

• Suitable for connecting QSFP+ modules to multiple SFP+ transceivers
• Used with Fibre patch panels in high-density racks
• Ideal for SAN and server farm high-throughput links
• Can be used for in-plenum backbone distribution

What temperature range can it withstand during operation?

It operates between -10°C and 70°C.

What Fibre core and cladding construction does it use?

The multimode fibres employ 50/125μm core/cladding geometry.

How is signal loss controlled across the assembly?

The MPO and LC terminations use PC polishing and individual testing to ensure low insertion loss.

What physical jacket material is specified for safety?

The outer sheath is low smoke zero halogen material suitable for plenum use.

How does the breakout design affect cable management?

The slim uniboot LC arrangement reduces routing volume and eases high-density organisation.
