LCR meters are electronic test equipment used to measure the inductance (L), capacitance (C), and resistance (R) of electronic components.

When there is a change in current flowing through a conductor, a corresponding voltage is induced in that conductor and nearby conductors. This property is known as inductance. The ability of a body or a conductor to store electric charge is known as capacitance. The opposition a material or conductor presents to the flow of electric current is known as resistance.

Most LCR meters use AC test signals to measure a component's impedance characteristics. By measuring voltage, current, and phase angle, the instrument can determine parameters such as inductance, capacitance, resistance, impedance, dissipation factor (D), and quality factor (Q), depending on the model.
