Ashtrays

An enclosed ashtray, also known as a cigarette bin, is a fire-safe waste receptacle designed for the collection and disposal of cigarette butts, ash, and other smoking-related waste. These units help contain smoking waste in designated areas, reducing litter and supporting safer disposal practices in outdoor environments.

RS supplies ashtrays, smoking bins, and cigarette disposal bins in base-mounted, wall-mounted, standing, and freestanding configurations. Products are available in materials including steel, stainless steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, and durable plastics. We stock products from leading brands including Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Justrite, and Robert Scott, with fast nationwide delivery across Singapore.

Types of Ashtrays

Outdoor ashtrays are typically selected according to mounting method, capacity requirements, available installation space, and security requirements. The most suitable ashtray bin depends on expected usage levels and the permanence of the installation.

Base-Mounted Ashtrays

Base-mounted ashtrays are standing units secured to the floor for a long-term, tamper-resistant installation. They are ideal for permanent smoking areas where a heavy-duty, fixed cigarette bin is required to accommodate frequent use in commercial premises, transport facilities, and industrial environments.

Free-Standing Ashtrays

Free-standing ashtrays are not fixed to the ground, so they can be moved and repositioned as needed. This mobility makes them ideal for temporary smoking areas, events, hospitality venues, and other locations where flexibility is important, allowing site managers to reposition the smoking ashtray as layouts or usage patterns change, or when it is only needed for short-term use.

Wall-Mounted Ashtrays

Wall-mounted ashtrays are discreet and keep the floor clear, fixed to a wall in busy spots such as building entrances and smoking shelters. They are a space-saving choice for high-traffic areas where a floor-standing ashtray would get in the way.

Lockable Ashtrays

Lockable ashtrays keep the collected waste secure until it is emptied, so the contents cannot be tampered with or scattered. These products are commonly used in public and commercial settings where a tidy, controlled cigarette disposal bin matters. Many lockable designs also support easier maintenance and waste-removal procedures.

Combined Ashtray & Bin Units

Combined ashtray and bin units pair a cigarette bin with a general waste bin in a single body, handling both smoking waste and everyday litter at once. They keep entrances and outdoor areas tidy without needing two separate fittings.

Applications of Ashtrays

Outdoor ashtrays are found anywhere people smoke away from a building. As more venues ban indoor smoking, they have become standard across commercial and public spaces as well as at home. A well-placed ashtray bin keeps butts off the ground and lowers the fire risk wherever smoking happens.

Designated Smoking Areas & Shelters

In designated smoking areas and shelters, a sturdy ashtray gives smokers a clear, safe place to dispose of butts and keeps the surrounding area clean. A standing or base-mounted cigarette bin handles steady use in these dedicated spots.

Office & Building Entrances

Just outside offices and building entrances, wall-mounted ashtrays catch cigarette waste before it reaches the doorway. They keep entrances tidy and stop butts from being trodden on inside busy walkways.

Factory & Industrial Premises

On factory and industrial premises, ashtrays are placed in safe outdoor zones well away from flammable materials and fire risks. A durable metal smoking bin withstands heavy outdoor use and frequent emptying.

Hospitality & Event Spaces

Pubs, restaurants, and event spaces use ashtrays in beer gardens, terraces, and temporary smoking points to manage litter during busy periods. Free-standing and portable units are easy to move and reposition as events require.

Outdoor Residential Use

For residential outdoor areas such as patios, balconies, and gardens, ashtrays provide a dedicated method for disposing of cigarette waste. Compact wall-mounted and free-standing models are commonly selected where space is limited or where a permanent installation is not required.
