It's suitable for safeguarding both general-purpose and motor circuits and safely breaks both high-fault and low-fault currents. As the fuse has a high rupture capacity, it carries a short circuit current safely for a brief period before it blows. This allows it to be used with motors as it tolerates a start-up surge without blowing. It's robust and won't deteriorate with age so there's almost never a need to maintain it. The most important factor to consider when selecting a fuse is the power rating of your application. A fuse should have a current rating that's marginally higher than the standard operating current of the device it's protecting. This is so it won't blow and trip a circuit in the event of a low, harmless surge.
