RS PRO 1.5 μF Polypropylene Capacitor PP 440 V AC ±10% Tolerance Screw Mount
Use this RS PRO capacitator to help spin single-phase induction motors. Suited to AC voltage, it works by providing a jolt of stored energy to the motor once it has started.
Two very thin layers of aluminium film covered in a polyurethane flame-retardant resin make up this polypropylene capacitator (PP). This insulated film gives the component the capacity to be self-healing through any weak points, which also absorb currents in case of a power surge. If this does occur, the metallised surface will melt, producing a vapour that insulates the weak spot and letting the capacitator carry on working normally. It's suitable for screw mounting and has a capacitance of 1.5 μF.
This product is typically found in the motors of domestic electrical appliances. It is British, European and ISO 9001-2008 quality approved.
