An axial fan is used for both cooling and ventilation purposes. The impellers or blades rotate around a parallel axis and force air to move in an axial position, so both in and out. As an example, on a desktop PC, the axial fan would be mounted directly to the motherboard and blow air directly at the processing unit. Ball bearings are the more common choice over ceramic and sleeve bearings.
