Evaluation Board for High-Side Current Sensing with Input OVP

This Analog Devices evaluation board demonstrates a high-side current sensing circuit with input overvoltage protection. The circuit utilises the overvoltage protected ADA4096-2 op-amp as a difference amplifier ahead of an AD7920 12-bit ADC. The ADA4096-2 provides reliable latch-up free operation without output phase reversal. The evaluation board circuit also includes an ADP3336 ultra-low IQ adjustable low-dropout linear voltage regulator which may also be used to supply power to other system components.

Current Sensing Amplifiers have a voltage output that is proportional to the volt drop across a very low value resistor, usually in a high-current power rail. Hence they measure the current flowing in that power rail.
