Hydraulic Pressure Sensors

Hydraulic pressure sensors, often known as transducers, convert pressure measurements into an analog electrical output signal.

How do hydraulic pressure sensors work?

Just like other transducers, hydraulic pressure sensors require a source of electrical input in order to work successfully. The transducer input voltage can vary but is typically under 10 volts, while the output is usually in the hundreds of thousandths of volts. A change in the system's pressure causes a change in the transducer's resistance on the electrical circuit used and then results in a change to the output voltage. A hydraulic pressure sensor's output signal can be used in systems that need digital signals to work with the simple addition of an analog to digital converter (ADC).

Types of hydraulic pressure sensors

Stain gauge

Stain gauge transducers use the mechanical deformation under pressure of strain-sensitive variable resistors, which may be integrated into measurement circuits.

Thick/thin transducer

In a thick/thin film transducer, a titanium nitride film is applied to the sensor equipment to expose the circuit with piezoelectric (an electric voltage) sensitivity to pressure.
